WASHINGTON (AURN News) — Dr. Anthony Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right and refused to answer lawmakers’ questions this morning during a high-stakes Senate hearing into the origins of COVID-19. The hearing follows Paul’s release of more than 1,000 pages of Fauci’s private pandemic-era diaries, which he says expose contradictions between what Fauci wrote privately and what he told the public. Fauci’s legal team says he’s invoking the Fifth Amendment to avoid a possible perjury charge, noting his 2025 pardon from former President Joe Biden would not protect him from future prosecutions. In his opening statement, Fauci accused Paul of an “unhinged obsession” with prosecuting him. Click play to listen to the report from AURN White House Correspondent Ebony McMorris.
