Two people are facing charges after allegedly breaking into a west suburban apartment, pepper spraying a man and fatally shooting his dog, authorities said on Wednesday. WATCH HERE WATCH HEREThe incident unfolded around 1:15 p.m. on Monday when DuPage County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a home invasion on the 30W000 block of Capistrano Court. Detectives identified Bridges and Smith through interviews, search warrants and investigative leads, authorities said. Both Bridges and Smith appeared in court on Wednesday and were ordered to be detained until their trials. "The level of cruelty alleged in this case is heartbreaking and extremely disturbing," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said.
