With Colorado’s 150th anniversary aligning with the Summit Historical Society’s seventh annual Vintage Baseball Game, the group is extending the celebration into a Vintage Baseball Week. The main event will take place Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Dillon Town Park baseball field at 1 p.m., although festivities will start at 10:30 a.m. with a youth baseball game featuring local youth baseball and softball players. There is no cost to attend the games, and the vintage game at 1 p.m. will be played with 1864 Civil War-era rules. The Summit Sluggers and Colorado Territorials All-Stars will play with their bare hands, lemon-peel stitched baseballs, one-bounce outs, wooden bats and authentic vintage uniforms. Spectators will be able to purchase hot dogs from Sauce on the Blue, beer from Angry James Brewery and Broken Compass Brewing, and other snacks.
