The Summit Board of County Commissioners discussed July 28 a county staff proposal to increase tap fees for the Snake River Wastewater Utility, without raising quarterly fees until 2044.
Josh Johnson, the wastewater plant’s utility director, told the commissioners about the results of a recently completed rate study.
Staff suggested the second alternative, which assumed the system will continue to add an average of 25 new taps per year through 2046.
That calculation resulted in a tap rate of $14,000 per equivalent residential unit, which would be a $5,000 increase over the current $9,000 fee.
Cooperwasser also said the option had the smallest increase to tap fees and would not require quarterly rate increases until 2044.
