VALLEY CITY, N.D. – An Arizona woman pleads not guilty to murder charges in Barnes County District Court. Nancy Trottier is accused of the 1981 killing of an infant. The scene, processed by Valley City Police and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, led to the body being covered in plastic over the face and an attached umbilical cord. In October 2021, authorities interviewed Trottier regarding her family tree, the infant and DNA linked to the Trottier family. A DNA sample taken from Nancy concluded a scenario in which “Rebecca” ‘is the true biological child of Nancy Trottier and her husband.’
