Fargo Municipal Airport Authority Chairman Rick Berg on The Jay Thomas ShowFARGO, N.D. — Leaders at Hector International Airport are exploring a proposal to expand the Fargo Municipal Airport Authority into a broader, regional county authority—a move supporters say would strengthen governance and broaden the tax base across Cass County.
Under the current structure, the airport authority is governed solely by the City of Fargo.
Fargo Municipal Airport Authority Chair Rick Berg addressed the potential change during a Wednesday interview on The Jay Thomas Show, clarifying that local tax dollars are strictly earmarked for long-term growth rather than everyday overhead.
Berg explained that transitioning to a county authority is aimed at fairness and regional collaboration rather than generating additional revenue.
“Right now, the City of Fargo is the only entity that supports the Fargo airport,” Berg noted.
