Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a marked police vehicle, which was on routine patrol at the time, also struck the pedestrian. "Following officers being deployed, further reports then indicated that several vehicles had collided with the pedestrian prior to officers’ arrival. "A marked police vehicle, whilst on routine patrol on the A40 at the time, was also reported to have collided with the pedestrian before the police response arrived." The closure and ongoing police activity caused delays and diversions, with heavy traffic reported in the surrounding areas including Priory Street in Carmarthen. Dyfed-Powys Police have urged anyone with information to contact them as soon as possible to help piece together the circumstances surrounding the collision.
