Lammas Week to bring ‘oldest road race’ and packed programme back to Inverkeithing
['Stephen Kinninmonth']
Dunfermline Press | News
The week begins on Saturday, August 1, with a Mad Hatter tea party in Friary Garden, a garden competition people’s choice and an evening history walk with local guide John Paterson.
Sunday brings football to Ballast Bank with the Swifts’ “turn up and play” event for children, another history walk and the ever‑popular duck race.
Last year's relaunch of the Lammas Fair was a 'great success'.
The Lammas Fair in Inverkeithing is regarded as one of Scotland’s oldest surviving events of its type, with records going back to at least the 17th century.
Over time the race became formalised and is now considered to be 'Scotland’s oldest road race'.
