The outage hit 102 addresses in Workington, including Parkway Cinema and Asda at the Dunmail Park site, after damage to a high-voltage underground cable. A spokesperson for SP Electricity North West said: "Yesterday at 3.30pm, we received reports of a power cut which affected 102 properties in Workington after a third party damaged an underground electricity cable. "Engineers attended site immediately and were able to restore power supplies by 5.40pm with a full repair on the cable to take place." Among the affected businesses was Parkway Cinema, which confirmed that it would remain closed for the day. It advised customers that tickets booked for that day would be fully refunded or rebooked for a later date.
