The Municipal Sahakar Mazdoor Union (MSMU), affiliated to INTUC, organised Bonalu celebrations at the GHMC head office on Wednesday, highlighting the festival’s link to Telangana traditions and community unity. The event was attended by former MP and president of All India INTUC, Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy, labour minister Dr Vivek Venkat Swamy, and government adviser on BC Welfare V. Hanumantha Rao, along with other senior INTUC leaders. Speaking on the occasion, Adil Shariff said, “Bonalu, one of Telangana’s most significant festivals, embodies the state’s rich cultural heritage, traditions and values.” He said the festival promotes brotherhood, unity and communal harmony, and invokes the blessings of the Goddess for well-being, good health and prosperity. He added that such celebrations should continue to strengthen collective spirit and safeguard society from diseases and pandemics.
