Hyderabad: Around 17,000 employees who retired from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) since 2017 are awaiting revised pay-scale arrears and other retirement benefits. The retired employees are demanding the immediate release of Rs 311 crore towards gratuity and leave encashment and Rs 550 crore in arrears under the 2017 revised pay scales, taking the total to Rs 861 crore. Around Rs 1,700 crore is also reportedly due to the Employees Provident Fund Office. Nagavender Rao, president of the TGSRTC Retired Officers Welfare Association, said the management and government representatives had been blaming previous governments for the delay in clearing the dues. He said that in the absence of a pension, retired employees were being forced to borrow money at high interest rates to meet their daily needs.
