Wall Street tumbled in a frantic last hour of trade after the Fed announcement, and the Australian market followed suit.
Bottle shop owner Endeavour fell 2.3 per cent, dairy giant A2Milk lost 2.8 per cent and Treasury Wine Estates dropped 1.6 per cent.
Energy stocks limited the market’s declines, as oil prices held on to their jump from Wednesday.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 2 per cent and Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 1.5 per cent for two of the bigger moves.
