ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Local lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are speaking out about President Donald Trump’s efforts to require photo ID to vote. Congressman Joe Morelle held a shadow hearing on Wednesday with Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries at Rochester City Hall. Morelle and Jeffries discussed voter protection and spoke out against the SAVE Act. According to the White House, a poll by Gallup says 84% of Americans support laws requiring photo ID to vote. Morelle and Jeffries said the law would leave millions of citizens unable to vote and emphasized that elections are already secure.
