Toyota and Nissan have suspended operations at their plants in southwestern Japan after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake shook the region. Toyota suspended all three of its plants until Friday, and Nissan suspended parts of its plants indefinitely. UPDATE 8/6/26: Toyota and Nissan resumed regular production on August 6, according to a report from Automotive News. Another Toyota plant in central Japan was temporarily shut down earlier this week due to supply chain issues, but they have since been resolved. Nissan's affected plants produce the Infiniti QX80 and the Nissan Armada, among other vehicles sold in global markets.
