Clewer said the local hotel operator has not expressed interest in operating the event center portion. Clewer said the application is waiting for a resolution from the Sterling City Council to approve the application. Scott Shumard, Sterling city manager, told the Sterling City Council at its July 20 meeting that he would be meeting with representatives from the IEPA to go over the costs and grant funding.
