Pre-trial release has been denied for the second of three men accused of carjacking a man at gunpoint and then leading police on a high-speed chase, prosecutors said. About 12:53 a.m. July 24, Wheaton police responded to an aggravated vehicle hijacking in the 1000 block of E. Willow Avenue. The other individual then got into a grey Nissan Sentra in which the offenders arrived. On July 25, while conducting surveillance, Wheaton detectives saw Givens outside his residence, causing him to flee on foot. “In DuPage County, we will not tolerate violent criminal activity, and we will continue to pursue those accused of such,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release, “Random, violent crimes, such as alleged in this case, can shake a community to its core, leaving residents feeling vulnerable and afraid.
