Mdinaradze to Become ‘State Minister for Regional Policy,’ Regional Development Ministry to Be AbolishedMamuka Mdinaradze, now the State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Bodies in the Georgian Dream government, will become the “State Minister for Regional Policy,” a yet-to-be-created position that will lead to the abolition of his current post as well as the Ministry of Regional Development. “Today, one of the state’s most important challenges and tasks is strengthening regional policy,” Kobakhidze said. Kobakhidze added that the creation of the new state minister position would result in the Ministry of Regional Development “essentially losing its purpose” and that it would therefore be abolished in September. Current Regional Development Minister Kakhaber Guledani, who has held the post since April 2025, will become the first deputy minister of infrastructure. Mdinaradze, who has served as Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Bodies since April, previously headed Georgia’s State Security Service from September 2025.
