The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales has revealed aerial photographs of a once-hidden archaeological feature that has been revealed by the dry weather. "This year has been pretty windy across Wales, so some of the longer trips to record cropmarks have made for challenging flying. One of the images that has been captured is a "remarkable" cropmark of "a rectangular Neolithic long barrow near Welshpool dating from around 5000 years ago". The Royal Commission added that its size can be judged by the tractor lines in the field and that these markings "have not shown so clearly from the air for 30 years". All photographs are archived in the National Monuments Record of Wales where they will be available to consult long into the future.
