['Josh Price']
County Times | News
The 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, under the theme 'Read to the Beat,' explores the connection between stories and music, encouraging children to discover how reading and sound can fuel creativity and self-expression.
Cllr Raiff Devlin, cabinet member for customers, digital, and community services, said: "The Summer Reading Challenge is a fantastic way to encourage children to keep reading throughout the summer holidays while having fun at the same time.
Libraries across Powys will also host free music-themed events and activities to support the reading challenge.
He said reading over the summer helps children maintain and build their reading skills between school terms, while also nurturing a lifelong love of books.
More details are available on the Summer Reading Challenge website or by contacting your nearest Powys library.
