A recent consultation carried out by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council found that 92 per cent of respondents support the idea of forming a parish council for the area—the only part of Welwyn Hatfield currently without one. Councillor Kieran Thorpe, executive member for governance, said: "Thank you to everyone who shared their views in response to our consultation on creating a new parish council for Welwyn Garden City. Most also accepted that funding would come from a variety of sources, including council tax paid by Welwyn Garden City residents. This would mean replacing current county, district, and borough councils, including Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. Welwyn Garden City is currently the only place in the borough without a parish or town council.
