The incident, which occurred on February 13, was linked to suspected hare coursing on private land in Westhorpe, Suffolk. A member of the public alerted police, who later received a second call reporting that the suspects had fled in a blue Jeep. In an attempt to evade capture, the driver of the Jeep drove the wrong way on the A14 for a short distance. The occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot toward nearby woodland near the Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds. Officers pursued the suspects on foot and arrested four men in their 20s on suspicion of various offences, including hare coursing, failing to stop, and dangerous driving.
