Dr Peter Prinsley, MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket, was investigated for a potential breach of Rule 6 of the Code of Conduct after failing to declare an interest during a Home Affairs Select Committee hearing about an Aston Villa vs Maccabi Tel Aviv match.
During a BBC interview about a local hospital, a journalist unexpectedly asked Dr Prinsley about a false story regarding the investigation, and he corrected the record.
Because they saw the breach as "minor and inadvertent" and Dr Prinsley apologised, the Committee recommended no further action.
Dr Prinsley MP said he's "pleased" the investigations have now concluded.
"My focus remains on what matters most: serving the people of Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket and continuing to work hard on their behalf," he added.
