Water company behind hosepipe ban 'turning on the tap' with untreated leaks

Anglian Water brought in the restriction on July 11 due to extremely high temperatures, but there have been complaints from locals of water leaks on pavements across Sudbury.
"Yet, on the back of that, we see water coming out of the ground, and effectively Anglia Water turning the tap on anyway."
He also raised concerns about safety, as a leak on Minden Road, Sudbury now has a “green algae-like sludge”, making it slippery.
This comes in a month where water leaks have been prevalent across the county, with burst pipes forcing road closures in Haverhill and Ipswich.
An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “During periods of hot weather, the high temperatures can cause ground movement that results in an increase of burst water mains or leaks.
