Plans looked to create seven independent units for retail, offices, or health-related uses at the Ipswich Road site in Needham Market,It also included shopfront alterations, new doors and windows, internal partitioning, accessible parking, cycle parking, and associated works.
The development would have introduced dedicated visitor parking bays, an accessible space, bike storage, and a powered two-wheeler bay.
The application was intended to support "flexible, small-scale commercial accommodation suitable for independent retailers, service businesses, start-up enterprises, professional services and other Class E occupiers appropriate to Needham Market’s commercial context."
The site was described in the application as "previously developed commercial land" with a long-established history of vehicle sales.
Planners noted that the scheme would not have expanded commercial use into undeveloped land.
