COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- A new report from the Council on Criminal Justice (CCJ) shows Colorado Springs saw an over 50% decrease in homicides so far this year compared to the first six months of 2025. Carjackings saw the biggest decrease while drug offenses saw the largest increase up 12%. Colorado Springs saw the second-largest decrease in the crimes tracked by CCJ. KRDO13 reached out to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) to ask why that drop may have happened. The full CCJ report can be found on their website.
