Council Endorses Collective Strategy To Tackle Homelessness In RotoruaRotorua Lakes Council has endorsed He Urunga Rau Koromiko 2026, a new collective strategic framework designed to manage, reduce and ultimately end homelessness in Rotorua.
This community response to supporting our rough sleeping whānau was created after recognising the need to better support people experiencing rough sleeping and chronic homelessness.
Homelessness in Rotorua is predominantly hidden rather than visible:• 4.3% living without shelter (rough sleeping, cars, tents, shacks, mobile dwellings).
According to MSD’s Housing Register data, there are currently 808 households on the Rotorua Housing Register.
