Three members of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have felt it necessary to resign from the newly formed Kesh Development Association (KDA) following legal advice as there would be a conflict of interest in making representations, particularly in terms of the Mantlin Playing Fields issue. It was also agreed to allow the new committee time to get to grips with the situation and engage with council officials. Raft of resignationsHowever at the most recent meeting Councillor John McClaughry, Ulster Unionist informed members: “Following the advice given, I have resigned my position as an ex-officio on KDA. “I’m quite disappointed that I had to take that action, but I feel it’s the best way I can represent KDA and the wider Kesh community.” Democratic Unionist Councillor David Mahon, who first brought the Mantlin Playing Fields matter to council attention, also indicated he has resigned for the same reasons.
