Naoki Hamaguchi, game director on Final Fantasy VII Revelation, has revealed during an interview with GamesRadar that he’s hoping the upcoming RPG will receive a physical release, but the jury’s still out right now on whether or not the game be out on disc. But I am working to make the arrangements to allow us to have some kind of physical edition. Hamaguchi-san added that even if game discs are phased out completely, he feels “like there will always be some kind of physical or packaged edition. Sony announced earlier this month that it’s going to end production of physical game discs in January 2028, moving towards a digital-only future. Still, even though Final Fantasy VII Revelation is out in Spring 2027, it appears that a disc edition is not guaranteed at this point.
