Derelict pub 'too far gone' will be demolished and turned into flats despite concerns

The former Queens Arms on Rawlinson Street in Barrow has sat empty for almost 20 years, growing more and more derelict.
On Tuesday, July 28, councillors on the Barrow planning committee gave their final verdict.
The case planning officer told councillors the building is not viable for affordable housing.

Cllr Cassidy added it was a ‘great pity’ that the Queens Arms had been allowed to get into its ‘deplorable’ condition, saying there should be measures in place to stop similar things from happening.
