BMW is cutting 8,000 jobs and handing its cars’ brains to Qualcomm

The deal covers both the digital cockpit and the automated-driving systems, using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis chips. Naming Qualcomm for both hands it BMW’s compute roadmap, and ties BMW to its schedule. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Pilot already powers hands-free driving in BMW’s electric iX3, the first car in its new Neue Klasse line.
