Some 200 runners will take part in a running event challenging themselves to run up and down Corstorphine Hill as many times as they can in one hour. The “Hour to the Tower” challenge has been set by West Edinburgh Running Club which will see runners complete as many laps as they can from the foot of the hill to the Corstorphine Tower. Friends of Corstorphine Hill will support the event, while both participants and supporters have the opportunity to climb the tower after the event and take in the views. Chair of the West Edinburgh Running Club, Alan Jeffery, believes that the run can appeal to all levels of runner. A spokesperson from Friends of Corstorphine Hill added: “We are delighted to be working with the Hour of the Tower organisers and to open the wonderful and historic Corstorphine Hill Tower to race entrants and observers.
