Achieving the energy transition at scale will require unprecedented collaboration among the public sector, private investors and project developers,” he said in his keynote address at the GBA-Asean Conference on Energy Transition and Integration here today. The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that Southeast Asia needs to reach close to US$190 billion in annual clean energy investments by 2035, requiring a fivefold increase from current levels. IEA has also pointed out that the region attracts only 2% of global clean energy investment despite holding 9% of the world’s population.
