A local man is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County General Sessions Court on July 30 following a July 9 incident where he allegedly threatened to shoot his ex-girlfriend outside her home. The victim reported to police that her ex-boyfriend, Jeffrey M. Silverthorn, showed up at her doorstep demanding entry. During the confrontation, Silverthorn allegedly brandished a black handgun and threatened to shoot her before turning the gun on himself. She refused to open the door and called 9-1-1 after Silverthorn left the scene, telling officers the encounter left her in imminent fear for her life. Silverthorn has been formally charged with domestic-related aggravated assault, a Class C felony under Tennessee law.
