Nigerian Army has been recognised as Africa’s Best National Army in Counter Terrorism Operations for 2025 by African Security Watch, in recognition of its sustained operations against terrorism and insurgency across Nigeria. The continental honour reflects the Army’s operational successes, strategic leadership and contribution to counter terrorism efforts, following years of intelligence led campaigns against terrorist and other violent criminal groups. African Security Watch said the Nigerian Army earned the recognition for its coordinated joint operations, intelligence led campaigns, civil military cooperation, force development and capacity building, which have significantly weakened terrorist groups and strengthened security efforts in Nigeria and across the region. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining its gains through intelligence led operations, stronger collaboration with other security agencies, continuous training, improved personnel welfare and the acquisition of modern military capabilities. The award recognises the Nigerian Army’s counter terrorism efforts and its role in supporting peace and security operations across Africa.
