The Maple City Street Machines Cruise-In has been moved from Friday, July 31 to Friday, Aug. 7, due to concerns over potential lightning. Details below reflect the original preview; the new date carries the same 4 to 8 p.m. hours in downtown Monmouth. Organizers of the Maple City Street Machines Cruise-In say Friday’s 27th annual show will draw thousands of cars to downtown Monmouth, rain or shine. This year’s highlights include the flower-covered Mystery Machine van from “Scooby-Doo,” on loan from the Volo Museum in Chicago, and a lineup of rare Fred Gibb performance cars displayed on the square in front of the library. The event stretches roughly from Second Avenue to Fourth Avenue, one block west and two blocks east of Broadway.
