Punta Cana.- The Dominican Republic has signed a cooperation agreement with the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) to improve the safety, quality, and sustainability of transportation services that support the country’s thriving tourism industry. The memorandum was signed by Tourism Minister David Collado and ITF Secretary General Stephen Cotton during the meeting of the Caribbean National Coordinating Committee. “When we strengthen our transportation sector, we strengthen the entire Dominican tourism experience,” Collado said, noting that transport workers are often the first and last people visitors interact with during their stay. During the ceremony, the ITF presented Collado with an award recognizing his leadership in promoting sustainable tourism and fostering stronger collaboration between the tourism and transportation sectors. He dedicated the recognition to the thousands of transportation workers whose professionalism and hospitality contribute to the Dominican Republic’s reputation as one of the Caribbean’s leading travel destinations.
