French culture minister Catherine Pégard has announced a new plan to improve security at museums across the country, just nine months after the Louvre heist and days after yet another heist. She unveiled a new “national security plan,” saying that “no place is being spared, from the smallest church to the biggest museum.” Among the new 33 points of action include better staff training, moving vulnerable collections to safer locations, and installing new security systems. Staff should first be trained in personal security, fire protection, as well as anti-vandalism and theft prevention.” In addition to the Louvre heist, in the past year, other thefts have taken place at Adrien Dubouché National Museum, Musée du Hiéron, Denis Diderot House of Enlightenment, and the Lalique Museum, among others.
