A mother’s day at the beach with her family turned tense after she and her husband noticed a man pointing his phone toward their 13-year-old daughter. She said that by the time officers arrived, the man had already deleted several pictures and videos from his phone. When the mother asked him whose photos were on his phone, he gave an odd response. She encouraged parents to stay aware of their surroundings in public places like beaches and pools. A study published in the journal Children & Society found that many parents talk to their children about more than just “stranger danger.”
