With a warm and dry trend expected to begin today and strengthen through to Friday, BC Wildfire Service is expecting fire behaviour to once again increase in the Brunswick Creek wildfire complex. Cooler temperatures over the last four days have resulted in a slowdown of activity in the fires threatening the Fraser Canyon and the Nicola Valley, including the Ainslee Creek wildfire, which reached 30,000 hectares after absorbing the nearby Anderson Creek wildfire and sparking an evacuation alert and partial order of Lower Nicola. However, clear, sunny skies with temperatures reaching back into the high twenties have BC Wildfire Service at the ready for a growth in fire perimeter. “A warming and drying trend has re-established and strengthens through Friday,” said BC Wildfire. Heavy equipment is being used to establish contingency lines a safe distance from the fire perimeter in anticipation of increased fire behaviour.
