Circuit unanimously upheld the denial of Democrats’ request to immediately block Trump’s mail-voting executive order. The court concluded that the challenge was brought before federal agencies had taken the actions necessary to create a ripe legal dispute. The lawsuit was filed by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Democratic National Committee and other Democratic organizations and leaders, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. At issue is Executive Order 14,399, which Trump signed March 31 as part of his election-integrity agenda. The order states that its directives must be implemented in accordance with applicable law.
