A long-serving regional editor who became High Sheriff of his county patch earlier this year has taken on a new role. Gary Shipton is relinquishing his post as editor-in-chief of Iconic Media’s Sussex titles to become an editor-at-large with the publisher. The move follows Gary’s appointment by the King to be High Sheriff of West Sussex for 2026. “I do not believe there is anyone else with more experience in regional media who is still working in a senior operational role. His role as High Sheriff includes acting as returning officer for parlamentary elections and ensuring the well-being of High Court judges when on circuit in the county.
