A Whitestone gang member was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the execution-style shooting of a Middle Village man outside a Corona bodega in June 2021. Omar Prado, 27, of 20th Avenue, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree in June, admitting he shot the victim, Kelvin Gomez, a half-decade earlier. Prado then ran to the corner of Van Doren Street where the silver Mercedes-Benz getaway car was waiting for him to flee. He was arrested when he returned to Queens and was booked at the 110th Precinct on Oct. 5, 2021. “We will not stop in our efforts to end the cycle of destruction caused by illegal gun violence in our neighborhoods.”
