A Libertyville man has been sentenced to six months in prison for mailing threatening letters to federal district judges appointed by President Donald Trump, telling them to “be careful,” accompanied by photos of ammo.
Court documents said Lebuhn mailed letters in March 2025 to U.S. District Court judges in Amarillo, Texas, and Fort Pierce, Florida.
Both were appointed by U.S. President Donald Trump during his first term in office when he appointed over 230 judges to federal positions.
LeBuhn also mailed similarly threatening letters to employees of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management in Washington, D.C.
LeBuhn pleaded guilty earlier this year to the charges and U.S. District Judge Sara L. Ellis sentenced LeBuhn on Tuesday to six months in federal prison while fining him $5,000.
