Hermiston seeks placing Carnegie Building on National Register

The Hermiston City Council voted July 27, 2026, to nominate the Carnegie Building for placement on the National Registry of Historic Places.
The building was built in 1918 and served as the city library until the city built its library in 1986.

The Hermiston City Council voted unanimously Monday, July 27, to pursue the nomination process for placing the building on the register.
Councilor Josh Roberts said having the Carnegie Building placed on the register opens up grant possibilities, as well.
