More than €12,000 in funding has been confirmed for a gallery in the west Donegal Gaeltacht. Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan, confirmed the money for An Gailearaí Dhún na nGall which is based in the gteic building in Gaoth Dobhair. The grant will assist with their plan to run an exhibition project ‘A Sense of Gaeltacht’ (working title). “The gallery has invited two specialists in their field to write a commissioned essay and for each to also make a selection from the IMMA and Arts Council Collections that supports the themes within their essays,” Minister O’Donovan said. “The aim of the exhibition project is to stimulate discussion nationally amongst practitioners, curators, critics and others and so to accompany the exhibition they will also host a chaired public discussion within the gallery.”
