SANTA FE, N.M. — Santa Fe city councilors are scheduled to vote on a new proposal that would limit vehicle traffic during the busiest times of the year. Two city councilors originally proposed automatically closing San Francisco Street along the plaza from Memorial Day to Halloween each year. The city shuts down San Francisco Street close to 70 times a year, putting a strain on city resources, city councilor Alma Castro says. Castro also hopes to bring locals back to the heart of Santa Fe. Councilors also approved an amendment to keep one lane of San Francisco Street open throughout the proposed closures.
