TAOS, N.M. — Taos is shifting away from Flock Safety as the provider of automated license plate reader cameras in the town. The Taos Town Council voted to shift $54,000 away from renewing a contract with the provider of 18 ALPR cameras in Taos – while still keeping the money within the Taos Police Department. Taos Police Chief Ron Montez Jr. was present at Tuesday night’s meeting. Oswald echoed other councilors’ support for police keeping the money to find other services elsewhere than Flock. The ALPR cameras reportedly went live in Taos in 2024.
