It is important as a parent or carer to take an interest in our young people’s online world.
However, recently we have also seen the harm that is caused when inaccurate information is shared online.
These types of posts, once shared, can result in false information being spread quickly, causing confusion and is incredibly difficult to correct.
Taking time to ask yourself these questions is the best method we have to combat causing unnecessary harm in our communities and prevent you from falling victim to misinformation or disinformation.
Misinformation is defined as false information being shared unintentionally, while disinformation is false information deliberately created and spread to mislead others.
