Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed federal institutions to immediately shift to the newly established national central data center, Sky 47, as part of the government’s broader digital transformation strategy. Chairing a review meeting on the implementation of the national digital policy framework in Islamabad, the prime minister said the centralized public sector data center would act as a single repository for government data and help improve coordination among institutions. He also ordered the early convening of the National Digital Commission to ensure effective coordination with provincial governments and other stakeholders for the implementation of Pakistan’s digital vision under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2025. According to the briefing presented during the meeting, Pakistan’s digital transformation program is being expanded across multiple sectors, including energy and food, with initiatives underway in 14 additional priority areas. Prime Minister Shehbaz said the successful implementation of the national digital vision would eventually enable citizens to access government verification services, banking facilities, healthcare services, property transfers, and other public services through a single digital identity system.
