By MICAH HENRYLocal businessman and civic leader Vance Carl “Jack” Bebber, age 91, of Taylorsville, died last week as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. The investigation revealed that a 2003 Toyota Tacoma driven by Jack Bebber, of 192 Henry Rose Drive, Taylorsville, was traveling down the dead-end portion of Eastview Court and collided with a parked vehicle. The son of the late Sheriff Elisha Bebber, Sr., and Nell Moose Bebber, Jack had a long career in local business. In December 1996, The Times featured an article about Jack Bebber being selected as Alexander County Christmas Parade 1996 Grand Marshal. In relation to community service, Bebber served as a volunteer fireman for many years and was Fireman of the Year in 1986.
